You have set your glory in the heavens.”

Psalm 8

These are God’s floorboards.

Majesty.

___________________________________
For the photogs: a quick gear change note. i switch it up from the nifty fifty 1.8 to a sigma 30mm 1.4 (i highly recommend). with the crop factor its actually a true 48mm. I would change the name of the blog, but life at 48mm just doesn’t have the same feel lol.

(HTC Evo)

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;”

Matthew 9

this is my boy jeremy. he’s putting the finishing touches on a sermon he was a moment away from delivering to our university. he was a moment away from a grand opportunity.

earlier this evening, i got a chance to play some saxophone on a show called “Studio Sessions” on CMRadio. (http://www.andrews.edu/cm/cmradio/programming/studiosessions/)

(for one of the songs: www.andrews.edu/cm/cmradio/files/ss_20110127_iwantjesus_eq_sc.m4a)

as i was being interviewed, the thought grasped me that every show, the host has an opportunity.

the opportunity in both cases is the same. its an opportunity to go into ministry.

However, this opportunity isn’t limited to radio shows and sermons. I believe that we all are given this opportunity. It comes in different forms; a chance to help, a chance to smile. A chance to care, a chance to be leaned upon. Ministry isn’t a Facebook event or a newspaper headliner. Ministry happens every day.

What opportunity are you a moment away from?

(HTC Evo)
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light...

(HTC Evo)

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Psalm 119

i woke up to this my first day of classes. its like the day was calling me to go learn from it. paradoxically, 5 minutes prior to this picture i was in an endurance battle with my alarm clock, fighting the command to rise out of bed and use the new light of the morning.

you have a grandfather. and a greatgrandfather. and a greatgreatgrandfather. and a greatgreatgreatgrandfather. it took so much to get you to today, this new light, right where you are, in vacation warmth or epic monsoon.

use the light He’s giving you today. go forth.

(Canon T1i)
“…in Your light we see...

(Canon T1i)

“…in Your light we see light.”

Psalm 36

perspective. that’s all this is really about.

i remember staring into people’s eyes as a youngster, trying to catch a glimpse of the reflection in them that secured their view of life. same story with this picture. as the shutter went, i wondered who was up there looking back at me. one of the reasons i love photography is because it gives me a chance to let others see the world through my eyes.

but somewhere beyond that blue is a perspective far more valuable than mine. by it, all things are put into focus. i want to see through His lens.
